Cinco de Mayo and Crafting an Effective Website
Why You Need to Focus on More Than Just Design
Happy Cinco de Mayo, amigos! While some of you might be sipping on margaritas, let's taco 'bout websites for a moment. š®
And Yes, you absolutely need one. Many business owners can get caught up in the aesthetics when creating their website. While a visually appealing design is crucial for navigation and professionalism, investing time in your website copy is equally important.
In today's digitally saturated world, our attention span has reduced dramatically. As such, people tend to scan websites rather than read them thoroughly. Prospective clients will give you, at most, 10 seconds to answer these questions:
What do you offer?
How does it solve my problem?
How can I get it?
To make the most of these precious seconds, consider the following tips:
Have a bold Call to Action (CTA) - The CTA is arguably the most vital part of your website. Similar to a cash register in a store, the CTA invites your prospect to make a transaction. For example: āSchedule a Consultationā, āGet a free estimateā, or āCall us Now.ā Like a cash register, your CTA should be unmissable, with all paths leading towards it. Make it big, bold, and obvious, and include multiple CTAs throughout the site to ensure visitors can easily find where to take action.
Optimize your headline - Your headline should clearly communicate what you do, the problem you solve, and what sets you apart. Capture visitors' attention with a memorable statement that showcases your niche and best work. If they remember nothing else from your website, you want them to remember the headline. A good headline will haunt them while they sleep. (Just kidding but you get the idea.)
Humanize your visuals - Use images to help visitors visualize success. As a contractor, your images will likely feature the interiors or exteriors of buildings. While these are great for showing out your craftsmanship, you can level up the impact by featuring people who appear to be happy and having a good time. Humans connect with other humans more than they do with inanimate objects. Therefore images with people in them evoke emotions and drive sales.
Outline your process - Clearly outline your 3-step plan or working process, making it easy for potential clients to understand how to engage with your business. Don't leave room for guesswork; people are inherently lazy and prefer being told what they need to know.
When designed effectively, a website can act as an extension of your sales team, gently guiding prospects toward a sales conversation with you. So, this Cinco de Mayo, let's raise a toast to creating websites that are not only visually appealing but also strategically crafted to drive business success.
